Surya Urja Rooftop Yojana-Gujarat (SURYA-Gujarat)

In a major initiative, Govt. of India, under the National Solar Mission has set a target of one lac MW Power generation through Solar Energy in the country by 2022, including 40,000 MW to be continued through Solar Rooftop.

Installation of Solar Rooftop plants on a large scale is one of the best initiatives, as in such plants, there is no requirement of land and Energy is consumed where it is generated. There would be no element of Transmission Loss. Such plants would be in the interest of public at large as well as State utilities. Therefore, with a view to promote large scale Solar Rooftop System on Private Residential roofs-terraces, the Government has introduced a Solar Rooftop Scheme as a Surya Urja Rooftop Yojana-Gujarat (SURYA-Gujarat).

• This Solar Rooftop System is installed within the premises of the Electricity service connection, either on roof or on ground.
• The Solar Rooftop System is of the ownership of the Consumer.
• State subsidy of 40% shall be available for Solar Rooftop Systems up to 3 KW and 20% for Solar Rooftop Systems beyond 3 KW up to 10 KW, installed and commissioned by Private Residential Consumers.
• Up to year 2021-22, approximately 8 lacs Residential Consumers planned to cover under this Scheme, among 2 lacs are planned to cover in years 2019-20.
• Related DISCOMs will purchase surplus Electricity @ rate of Rs. 2.25 per Unit.
• Electricity user or Consumer are free to choose any approved agency for installation of Solar System.
